ABOUT
Mayor Victoria Woodards, a Tacoma, Washington, native and U.S. Army veteran, leads the “City of Destiny” with a focus on equity, anti-racism, and impactful regional collaborations. Under her leadership, Tacoma initiated the first Commission on Immigrant and Refugee Affairs and launched Compassionate Tacoma. She actively addresses issues such as homelessness, affordable housing, public safety, and youth engagement.
Nationally, Mayor Woodards serves as the president of the National League of Cities, emphasizing innovative partnerships for endless possibilities. Her extensive local involvement includes leadership roles in economic development, housing affordability, and workforce training. With a track record in public service, she launched impactful initiatives during her seven years on the Tacoma City Council before being elected mayor in 2018.
